1990s Jim Morrison Mask from Marble Bust Mike Marino Hand Made Doors Ltd Ed. The Origin of the Mask. They were sculpted by artist Mike Marino and each was a limited edition art piece; hand cast in white bonded marble (hydrocal); they stood about 20 high and weighed approximately 25 pounds. At one point Marino made a cheaper mask' from the front part of the bust mold. I found a screen shot of the original DCM website (see last photo).
It was at this time that I got mine - it was one of the last ones he made before the original mold tore and Mike had no time to make another one because his business, Prosthetic Renaissance, was getting too busy working within the movie industry. Just do a google search on'mike marino prosthetic renaissance', to see all that he has accomplished since then!
Unfortunately my Jim mask has a story... It was held hostage by an ex-wife who didnt take very good care of it. When I got it back, it had three distinct chips on the sides: two on the neck and one under Jim's left side burn, and one small chip on the hair on Jim's forehead, as shown in my photos.
It measures about 8.5" wide and 10" tall and weighs about 4 pounds unpackaged. My hope is that someone will be able to repair him so Jim can proudly hang again. The mask will be securely double boxed and have plenty of peanuts and bubble wrap!
